During the 2025 season, Umeozulu played in every single one of the 12 games as a junior, even earning a starting spot in one. He finished the year with 19 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a single sack. In the disappointing 28-14 loss to Clemson last November, he contributed with one tackle.
Despite being a highly-regarded, four-star recruit coming out of high school, Umeozulu never managed to secure a starting position at South Carolina. Over his entire college career, he recorded a total of 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and that lone sack.
And here's a sobering statistic: Umeozulu is the 23rd South Carolina player to enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. This raises questions about the team's ability to retain talent and build a consistent roster.
