Dublin City Water Crisis: Burst Pipe Leaves Thousands Without Water (2026)

Thousands have found themselves without water in Dublin City after a water main burst. Uisce Éireann teams are on the ground in the north inner city, working to repair the damage and restore supply to affected customers.

The burst affects residents across Fitzgibbon Street, Frederick Street North, Dorset Street, Gardiner Row, Summerhill, Gardiner Place, and nearby areas in Dublin 1.

Keith Conmy of Uisce Éireann assured customers that every effort is being made to return the full water supply as quickly as possible. He described the issue as a “significant burst” and cautioned that repairs will take time.

In the meantime, the operations teams are rerouting water where feasible to minimize the number of households without service. The company acknowledges the disruption of an unplanned outage and thanks customers for their patience as work continues.

Repair crews have arrived on site, and the affected section of pipe has been isolated.

As the cold snap arrives, Uisce Éireann is also urging households to winter-proof their homes.

For safety of workers and the public, traffic management will be in place and clearly signposted while repairs proceed. Further updates will be issued as they become available.

Vulnerable customers who are registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct calls or messages about planned or unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Customers are encouraged to contact Uisce Éireann via their website, social media channels, or the 24/7 helpline at 1800 278 278 for information and assistance.
