Dale Earnhardt Jr. Confirms Racing Return at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (2026)

Get ready for an exciting comeback! Dale Earnhardt Jr. is back in the racing game, and it's a thrilling announcement that has fans buzzing.

On Tuesday, Earnhardt revealed his plans to race in the upcoming CARS Tour event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on April 11th. He'll be behind the wheel of his iconic No. 8 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, representing JR Motorsports.

In his own words, Earnhardt shared, "I'm racing at Nashville Fairgrounds on April 11th. It's like my mind is a whirlwind of thoughts, but I know it's time to get back in that Bass Pro Shops car. I'm excited for the CARS Tour race, and I can't wait to see how fast this baby goes!"

This marks a historic moment for the CARS Tour, as it's the first time the Late Model Stock and Pro Late Model classes will compete at Nashville Fairgrounds. And Earnhardt, as a co-owner of the CARS Tour alongside Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Justin Marks, is not just a spectator but an active participant.

At 50 years old, Earnhardt has proven his skills in CARS Tour events since 2022, with four starts in 2025 alone. His highest finish was an impressive 10th place at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina.

But here's where it gets controversial... While Earnhardt is committed to a limited schedule on the CARS Tour, he has categorically ruled out a return to the NASCAR Cup Series. Last month, he revealed a surprising conversation with his wife, Amy, who suggested he compete in the 2027 Daytona 500.

"Amy told me I should run the Daytona 500 next year. I was shocked! We were just relaxing in bed after a race, and she said, 'You should do it.' I was like, 'Are you serious? Are you feeling okay?' It's a big decision, and I'm still processing it."

Unfortunately, it seems like this won't be happening. Earnhardt clarified on X, addressing a reply to journalist Toby Christie, "I wanted to set the record straight about my retirement. Amy wasn't to blame; she got an unfair share of the blame back then. I'm not racing in the Cup Series, but it's not because of her."

Earnhardt has a remarkable history with the Daytona 500, having won the race in 2004 and 2014. He's also finished as the runner-up an impressive four times in 2001, 2010, 2012, and 2013.

So, what do you think? Is Earnhardt's return to racing a wise decision? And could we ever see him back in the NASCAR Cup Series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
